LightIC Technologies

What is LiDAR

LiDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging, and is the remote 4-D sensing method that utilizes light in the form of a pulsed laser to measure ranges (variable distances) to form a 3-D image and also determine an objects speed of motion. A simple LiDAR scan can generate a cloud point map to represent the surrounding world.

LiDAR is essential for autonomous agents, as it not only creates an accurate map of a vehicle’s surroundings, but also factors in any motion objects might have. In autonomous vehicles, LiDAR, Radar and Camera sensors are requried technologies to achieve L4/L5 autonomous driving in mass deployment.

LightIC LiDAR Technology

LightIC focuses on Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) LiDAR that measures not only distance (like all Time of Flight, or ToF LiDARs) but also velocity of every single point in its point cloud.

For its low emitting power, the FMCW LiDAR could achieve higher level of system integration, mass production capability,  sensitivity without light interference, durability against temperature and vibration, ease to use, compact in size at a lower manufacturing cost for automotives.
