LightIC Technologies is seeking to hire a talented and motivated silicon photonics design engineer to  join our rapid growing photonics development team. What you will do:

• Silicon photonics device design using photonic simulation tools
• Understand the silicon photonics fab process to take into account design-process interactions and drive device layout
• Communicate with foundry partners and own tape-outs
• Define test plan for devices and systems and assist with the execution
• Collaborate with system integration team to integrate the silicon photonics chip with the rest of the system

What you need to have:

• M. S. with 5+ years in silicon photonics design, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Optical Engineering or a related field
• Solid background with photonic devices including lasers, passive and active components, detectors
• Hands-on experience with silicon or III-V photonic component design such as lasers, detectors, waveguides, gratings, etc.
• Experience with photonic circuit design for optical communication or sensing
• Experience with silicon photonics chip testing, including fiber-to-chip coupling and use of common testing equipment such as tunable lasers, oscilloscopes, etc.
• Knowledge of silicon or III-V photonics chip packaging
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment, with an engineering mindset and a hands-on, get-stuff-done attitude
• Strong problem-solving skills
